Shipping & Delivery
SOHAPI
Bear spray is regulated cargo — pressurized canisters with flammable propellant and a biologically active capsaicin compound. The information on this page reflects our standard operating procedures for international B2B shipments. Specific lead times, freight terms, and documentation requirements may vary based on your order specifications, destination market, and applicable regulations.

How We Ship Aerosol Products Internationally
We've been shipping bear spray internationally since 2010, which means we've worked through the classification, packaging, and documentation requirements for every major market we serve. This isn't something we hand off to a freight forwarder and hope for the best.
Every shipment leaves our facility with a complete dangerous goods file. Our logistics team prepares the shipper's declaration, packing list, and commercial invoice in the format your customs broker needs.
Ocean Freight — North America
DOT classification under 49 CFR, UN specification outer packaging, and a properly completed dangerous goods declaration.
Road Freight — Europe
ADR requirements for aerosol shipments. Full compliance documentation prepared in-house for European road freight movements.
Air Freight — Samples & Urgent
IATA DG documentation to the current edition. Air freight for aerosols is expensive and volume-limited; most buyers use it for samples only, not production orders.
Documentation Handled In-House
We handle the DG documentation in-house. If your import market has specific documentation requirements we haven't encountered before, tell us upfront — we'd rather spend a week getting the paperwork right than have a container held at port.
Lead Times by Order Type
We provide a production schedule at order confirmation, not a vague "4–6 weeks" estimate after you've already paid the deposit.
Standard SKUs
Existing formulations, standard canister formats
From order confirmation to container loading. Covers production scheduling, the production run itself, outgoing QC inspection, and export packaging.
What this window covers

Custom Formulation & Private Label
Development cycle on the front end
From spec agreement to approved sample. Buyers who come in with a clear regulatory target and a reference product move through this faster than buyers who are still defining the spec.
Once the sample is approved, production lead time follows the standard window.
Worth knowing before you start: Buyers who come in with a clear regulatory target and a reference product move through the formulation phase faster than buyers who are still defining the spec.
Multi-SKU Orders: Single Shipment Consolidation
If you're ordering across multiple SKUs, we can consolidate into a single shipment with separate lot documentation per SKU. That simplifies your receiving process and reduces your per-unit freight cost compared to splitting the order across multiple containers.
Container Loading and Freight Efficiency
We've optimized our export carton dimensions around standard 20GP and 40HQ container configurations. Every SKU we produce has a container utilization calculation on file — so you're not paying for air.
Carton Dimensions Matched to Container
Export carton specs are engineered around 20GP and 40HQ footprints. When you request a quote, we include the container utilization calculation so you can see exactly what you're getting per container — unit count, fill rate, and dead space.
Mixed-SKU Pallet Configuration
For buyers ordering multiple SKUs in a single container, we configure pallet layouts to maximize fill while keeping lot separation clean. Clear lot traceability per SKU is a standard configuration — not a special request.
Flexible Incoterms
Incoterms are negotiable. Most buyers work on FOB Yokohama or CIF to their destination port. Door-to-port and door-to-door are available on request. If you have a preferred freight forwarder, we coordinate with them directly.
Container Utilization Included in Every Quote
Every quote we issue includes a container utilization breakdown for your specific SKU mix. North American and European distributors receiving consolidated multi-SKU shipments use this to verify receiving plans before the container arrives. Ask for it at the inquiry stage if you need it earlier.
Export Markets and Regulatory Documentation
We ship to North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Each market has its own import documentation requirements for aerosol products — we've built those requirements into our standard export process.
North America
- EPA registration text included on finished product
- Bilingual labeling (English/French) for Canadian buyers
- UPC codes on finished product — containers arrive shelf-ready
Europe
- CE marking included as part of the standard export file
- Safety data sheet in your required language
- SGS audit reports available on request for import clearance
Middle East
We have active export experience to Middle East markets. Documentation requirements vary by destination country. Contact us at the inquiry stage to confirm what's needed for your specific port of entry.
Southeast Asia
Some Southeast Asian markets require specific import permits for capsaicin-based aerosols. We've navigated these before and can advise on what documentation typically satisfies customs in your destination country.
Note: The import permit process itself is your responsibility as the importer of record. Let us know your destination country at the inquiry stage so we can flag any known requirements early.
SGS Audit Reports
Available on request for buyers who need third-party documentation for import clearance.
Multilingual Labeling
English/French bilingual for Canada. SDS in your required language for European buyers.
Shelf-Ready Packaging
UPC codes applied to finished product for North American buyers. Containers arrive ready for your receiving team.
What Happens After You Place an Order
From deposit receipt to shipping documents — here's the exact sequence of events and what you can expect at each stage.
Production Schedule Issued
Order confirmation triggers a production slot assignment. We send you a production schedule within 48 hours of deposit receipt — this shows your scheduled production dates, QC inspection window, and estimated container loading date.
Pre-Shipment Inspection
Pre-shipment inspection is available if your company requires it. We work with SGS and other third-party inspection agencies. If you want an independent inspector on-site before the container is sealed, coordinate with your preferred agency and we'll schedule access.
Most established buyers don't require this after the first order, but it's a standard option for new relationships.
Shipping Documents Sent
Shipping documents are sent by email within 24 hours of container loading. We don't wait for the vessel to depart. Your customs broker needs time to prepare the import entry, and we build that into our document turnaround.
Proactive Change Notification
If anything changes on our end — a raw material delay, a line scheduling adjustment — we update you before the impact hits your timeline, not after.
